About Us

Explore Bolivia, Inc. was conceived by Sergio A. Ballivian, President and founder since 1994. His basic premise was to offer what was lacking in Bolivia...consistent quality from the beginning to the end. We feel we offer some of the best trips in Bolivia but without our quality guides in the field, our support team in the offices and our logistical preparation and personal experience from travelling all over Bolivia through the years, we could not have the success that we have now.

We strive to design our tours with some very solid principles: strong geographic appeal (thanks go to Mother Nature), unique itineraries, solid team support from beginning to end, intense cultural interaction, quality equipment, great food and attention to detail.

We want you to enjoy your stay in Bolivia and understand that the trip you are on may be a bit of a cultural shock so we want you to immerse yourself in the trip and to take it all in. We will strive to teach you about Bolivia, its people and its customs so you can understand the underlying current that makes Bolivia so special.

Our guides are a combination of native Bolivians and foreign nationals that are experts in the activity that they are leading. For the most part they are all are bi-lingual, and carefully chosen for their skills, attention to safety and familiarity with the region. We always try to have a 'western' guide with the group as well as a native guide so that you can have the best of both worlds. Most of our guides have at least basic first-aid training, and some are Wilderness First-Responders or EMT's. We also work with trained ornithologists and biologists that are actively working in Bolivia in the field and are very familiar with regions we travel in and the native species there. Our guides are leaders, hard workers, lovers of the outdoors and friends.
